TicWatch GTH review

Are you looking for an affordable health watch to wear but do not want its quality compromised? When it comes to the budget smartwatch, you will often see TicWatch GTH recommended more than other brands. And there is a reason for that.

Back then at the end of the 2020 year, the TicWatch GTX was launched. But it was not really successful compared to the TicWatch GTH. The GTH model offers much more.

It comes to fulfill the requirements of the users who are concerned about their health. It can track your temperature, heart rate, as well as respiration rate. This will be your loyal buddy to improve your healthy lifestyle.

GTH is a budget health watch since it only costs under $100. The moment we wrote this review, the price tag issued by the official manufacturer was $79.9. It is indeed more expensive than the latter GTX model. But as mentioned, it offers so much more.

The Build and Design

The tough look of the GTH will sit nicely on your wrist. And if you are a huge fan of the square smartwatch, you will be glad to have it on your wrist. It looks appealing for outdoor lovers, although you can use it anywhere you go from casual to semi-formal functions.

The case of the smartwatch is made of 43mm metal. It is a sturdy and strong one. Finished with black color, the 10.5 mm thickness does not feel bulky at all.

The stylish look of the watch won’t disappoint you at all when you walk out there with this buddy.

There is only one button which you can tap to turn on the screen display. For shutting down the watch, you just need to hold it for a longer time.

But the best interface lies on its touchscreen display. This does not fill up the front.

It has a clear screen with a clear interface to interact with. We have tested the visibility quality by going outside. And it turned out to be great.

Not to mention that it is fortified with the 5ATM water-resistant rating that allows you to swim and dive with it up to 50 meters in depth. But never contact it with the hot water.

The main features

If you are expecting that this device runs on Google’s Wear OS, you should skip it since it runs on RTOS OS. As expected from the RTOS watches, it focuses on battery life and performance.

The Mobvoi companion app is paired with the device. You can find the app both on Android and iOS.

Use the android smartphone to connect with this buddy watch and you will be golden. We have tested it with the latest OS. We are not sure how it will work with the predecessors of the OS though.

On-watch software is accessible in seconds from the pairing. You can use the overall interface through screens and your smartphone app will notify you with some information. Unfortunately, we experienced some bugs moments back then. We just hope that the next updates could be better. You can adjust the screen brightness in case you need more out there.

1. Seeing weather

The weather widget is one of the most important widgets on the watch. Here you can see the weather updates and control the music playing on your phone. You can also change the faces of the watch, or create your own face. The notifications of the weather are indeed still relevant nowadays.

2. Health Features

It is the core of the device function. It is something that you’d like to expect from the health watch like GTH.

This model comes with sensitive sensors which can provide you the insightful health information without the presence of your physician.

Keep in mind though that this feature is not tied with the FDA. So, rather than seeing this health feature from a medical point of view, it is more appropriate to see it as a fitness tool. Consider checking on TicPulse, TicTemp, and other TicHealth app features.

As the name suggests, TicPulse informs you of the real time heart rate when you are doing your activities out there.

Then there is GTH skin temp which can read your skin temperature. TicTemp helps you to know the temp of your skin. it will also track the skin temp for around the clock.

While the temperature will keep you aware of your health condition, you can also see the TicZen.

TicZen is a feature that can monitor your stress levels. The heart rate will be the source of the information. The measurements will then be translated to the stress reading. However, it took a few minutes on our test to take the measurements. We just wondered if the app developers could update it so that the readings can be just quicker than before. But for most people, waiting for a few minutes is much better than nothing.

The TicBreathe is the next thing that we’d like to highlight. It is like your personal trainer who guides you on the breathing exercises.

The good thing about this feature is that you don’t have to be with your personal trainer to do your breathing exercise routine. All you need to do is to access the TicBreathe feature and let it guide you through the exercises. You will have the freedom to choose the duration of the exercise. You will know when to inhale and exhale by looking at the screen. It will guide you through.

3. Sports and fitness features

Perhaps you can guess what’s in it. The fitness tracker comes with tracking on steps, distance, as well as calories burned during your activities. It also automatically monitors your sleep quality. The sleep feature, includes REM sleep, heart rate when sleeping, as well as blood oxygen levels.

How long can you use it out there?

The answer will depend on the battery life of the GTH. It comes with a 260mAh capacity battery. The manufacturer claimed that it can take up to 10 days. But of course, it will also depend on the usage as well as screen display works.
